DISCOVERING NATURE AS OUR GREATEST TEACHER, HEALER, AND CLASSROOM
We deepen our work with individual educators by offering to integrate a field-trip or tour within a residency project. We call this an integrative expedition. This unified progression of experiences includes preparation workshops, co-designing a tour or field trip that integrates academic goals, followed by processing, a project, and a presentation. This before and after work helps participants prepare physically, emotionally, and intellectually to integrate and apply the learning to their everyday lives.
This is just one example of HOW an InDiGO Residency Project that integrates Math, Visual Arts, and SEL,
can evolve into an integrative expedition that GETS CHILDREN LEARNING OUTDOORS. "GRAPH-ITI" Mural Expedition Example MURALS USE MATH TO MAKE MESSAGES To build this particular example of a Residency Project into an Integrative Expedition we have added a mural tour. In this Integrative Expedition, Students learn how real mural artists use math to make messages through their art that beautify and empower local communities. |
