Zen
Zen Xaria, a visionary visual and musical artist of Korean and Austrian-American descent, has performed and showcased multi-disciplinary works in a multitude of countries on four continents. Zen’s inspiration for paintings, sculptures, and digital designs is rooted in forms and patterns in Nature, often cleverly making use of recycled materials and natural objects. Zen has painted murals in Thailand, Nepal, Peru, Chile, Brazil, Argentina, and the United States.
Zen’s passion for working with youth began in Nepal in 2015, teaching English, Music, and Art. In 2019, Zen began working with youth in the Baltimore area in school, after school, and at summer camps. In addition to Zen’s expertise within Music and the Arts, Zen is a skilled mediator and highly-attuned and empathic, healing-centered educator. Zen began working with InDiGO in the spring of 2022 to facilitate integrative outdoor experiences that incorporate Academics, the Arts, and SEL. Zen’s musical journey began as a child, and their main instruments are voice and kenna, a wooden flute from the Andes mountains in South America. Zen sings in and speaks multiple languages, including Portuguese, Spanish, Korean, and English. They have found musical families in all of their travels and have performed and recorded with a multitude of international recording artists. |
